SCP-3333 is a spatial anomaly located within the Fremont fire lookout, located in Mt. Rainier National Park, Washington State, United States of America.

SCP-3333 is accessible via a trapdoor and collapsible ladder on the ceiling of the Fremont lookout. Climbing the ladder leads to an identical copy of the Fremont fire lookout, including the walkway and railing that surrounds the back half of the lookout. This identical copy has an identical ladder and trapdoor pair, which leads to further copies of the Fremont lookout.

The topology surrounding SCP-3333 is identical to that surrounding the Fremont lookout. However, no plant, animal, or human life has been observed.

D-4f68a opens the door. Strong wind immediately blasts into the room, throwing D-4f68a back against the far wall and moving the furniture. D-4f68a struggles to get across the room, and eventually manages to close the door. He reflexively pulls his hand away from the door handle.

On a ridge southwest of SCP-3333, two vaguely humanoid figures can be seen. They are standing motionless. These figures can only be seen from D-4f68a's perspective; they are not visible from base camp.

D-4f68a looks through the binoculars at the figures. Base camp attempts to zoom in on the figures with D-4f68a's camera; however, the resolution is too low, and nothing can be made out.

D-4f68a lowers his head, showing both hands to the camera. Tufts of orange fur are stuck to his palms. The fur is caked with dark flecks that appear to be mud or ash. As the camera focuses on the shadows, its white balance automatically adjusts; the floor is covered in more of the orange fur.

There is the sound of the front door opening. Wind bursts into the room, blowing up clumps of fur from the ground.

There is a faint chattering. D-4f68a's camera and microphone cut out simultaneously.

結論: D-4f68aのビデオ録画の分析からは通信切断の原因を明らかにすることはできなかった。装備の故障とは考えづらいと判断された。D-4f68a消失の状況と、SCP-3333上部に未知の異常なオブジェクトや実体が存在する可能性を鑑み、さらなる探索が申請され承認された。
Conclusion: Analysis of D-4f68a's video footage was unable to reveal cause of communication blackout. Equipment error was ruled unlikely. Due to the circumstances surrounding D-4f68a's disappearance, and the possibility of an unknown anomalous object or entity in the upper portion of SCP-3333, another expedition was proposed and approved.

After several hours of climbing, Mod-4 and Mod-2 encounter the room where D-4f68a attempted to exit SCP-3333. The furniture is still in a state of disarray. The door is wide open, but the wind blowing through it appears to have died down.

The figure turns. It has the head of a fox and the body of an old man, hunched over on all fours. Its chest, hands, and feet appear to have been severely burned; some of its digits are missing, with the tips of charred bones exposed at the stumps.

The figure lifts its right hand and paws at the ground. It knocks once, and then twice. The camera feeds cut out.

Meanwhile, the microphones continue transmitting. A crackling noise is heard in the background, growing in loudness along with the wind. Mod-1 and Mod-2 continue screaming to the point of incoherency.

Conclusion: The mission was aborted when no further meaningful communication could be established with MTF Mod-0. However, Mod-1 and Mod-2's microphones continued transmitting the sounds of their screaming for the following 5 hours. As a precaution, Doctor Williams ordered that the trapdoor at base camp be locked and barred.

9 hours after the mission's abort, base personnel heard frantic knocking and voices coming from the other side of the trapdoor, followed by a burst of sporadic gunfire breaking the trapdoor's lock. Mod-5, followed by the rest of MTF Mod-0, then emerged from the other side. After their identities were ascertained, they were attended to by base medical personnel and subsequently debriefed.

Addendum 3333.4.I: Recontainment efforts
Standard all-clear status reports continued to be broadcast from Temporary Observation Post 3333 daily until 2039/04/02, when the 0600h transmission was interrupted by the following unencrypted text string:
3333 CMPRMISED SEND REINF WILLIAM 0 L166
This was followed by a string of 32 alphanumeric characters that, when cross-referenced against the observation post's secure communications public key, identified its sender as Counter-Memetic Specialist 0 or someone with intimate knowledge of their personal field verification key. Given these irregularities, a covert recontainment team was assembled and deployed within six hours to assess and respond to the situation at the observation post.
The recontainment team found the observation post abandoned. Communications equipment at base camp appeared to have been sabotaged by an electrical fire started with dry pine needles and animal fur. Exploration III was found logged but unsent on Dr. Williams' field laptop, which had apparently been left running for over a month. No trace of the observation post's 53 personnel — including project lead Dr. Williams, Specialist 0, and MTF Mod-0 — could be found.
The trapdoor to SCP-3333 was shut upon the recontainment team's arrival. It appeared to be blocked from the inside by a heavy object. In light of the events of Exploration III, the recontainment team elected to seal off the entrance until additional reinforcements arrived.
Addendum 3333.4.II: Revised containment procedures (current 2039/04/20)
The entrance to SCP-3333 is to be locked and sealed. At least two armed operatives must be stationed at all times to prevent entry or exit. Any entity emerging from SCP-3333 must be terminated. Preferred method of termination is via small arms fire, though destruction of the head or torso via kinetic impact has also observed to be effective. Incendiary means are ineffective and should not be used.
Wireless communications are not to be used within the immediate vicinity of SCP-3333. Do not trust any wireless communications received in the vicinity of SCP-3333.

The footage begins slightly after the end of Exploration III. Doctor Williams is climbing upwards through SCP-3333, camera attached to her side. She is breathing heavily, and appears to be running from something. Gunshots can be heard down below. A constant chattering sound is audible around her.
Doctor Williams climbs upwards for approximately ten minutes, then stops to rest. She sets the camera up against a table and blocks off the lower trapdoor with a chair. She sits down.
She is covered in ash and blood, is visibly panicked, and is carrying a handgun. Pieces of white animal fur are matted in the blood on her arms and face. She looks at the camera, begins to speak, then starts crying. She continues crying for approximately a minute, then stops.
Williams: It got us. It was wonderfully done. Just the right amount of vagueness, and who would dare argue with a seasoned MTF deciding to turn tail and run? And of course I didn't know any of them closely, so who was I to say if there was anything wrong, but then their skin…
There is a rattling sound. Someone is attempting to get through the trapdoor. Williams grabs the gun and points it at the door.
Voice: Doctor Williams? Doctor Williams! This is MTF Alpha-3! We received a distress call from this outpost! We were attacked by the personnel assigned here! What's going on here, Doctor? [Pounding] Let us in, Doctor!
Williams: [Panicked] St— [Coughs] Stay back! I—I'm not falling for it!
Alpha-3: Doctor Williams! Please! We will treat you as an enemy agent if you do not let us in!
Williams: [Screaming] Stay back!
Several fingers emerge through the trapdoor and begin to lift it up. Williams runs over and stamps on the fingers. There is a crunching sound, and the fingers go completely flat, still trapped in the door. There is a crackling sound as they begin to disintegrate, as if they are composed of cinders. The edges of the fingers burn slightly and smoke for a moment before going out. Williams fires two shots through the top of the door, grabs the camera, and begins climbing again.
Williams climbs for approximately a minute and a half, blocking off more trapdoors as she goes, then stops to vomit and cry. After about ten minutes, she picks up the camera. She spits into its lens and polishes it with her coat, then turns the camera off.

Williams: I—am still here. Haven't reached the top yet. [Pause] I'm thirsty. [Pause] I wish I had grabbed a kit. God it's fucking hot.
It begins to rain outside SCP-3333. Williams starts laughing.
Williams: I bet you love that, you bastard. Bet you love the rain. Came a little late, huh?
Williams props up the camera, then goes outside and attempts to drink. After a short period of time, she spits and comes back inside.
Williams: Same ashy shit as earlier.
Williams picks up the camera, attaches it to her side, and continues to climb. Twenty minutes later, she encounters the remains of a humanoid entity. Its skull is visible, clearly canid in nature. It appears the remains have been disturbed at some point: blood and biological matter have been smeared out in stripes slightly wider than a human hand.
Williams approaches the remains, holding her hand to her mouth. With her other hand, she gingerly shifts what is left, revealing a glint of metal and some strips of canvas webbing around the entity's torso. On the torso is a bootprint, slightly larger than the average human's.
Williams: Annette.
Williams gets to her feet and prods the torso with her foot. It is more brittle than it looks, and crumbles into blackened dust. Williams watches the entity for a moment more, and then continues climbing.
The footage ends two hours later, presumably when the camera's batteries run dry.

Doctor Williams' face fills the frame. The room around her is brighter, though unnaturally so, leaving her face in shadow.
Williams: Sunset is blazing. [pause] Well, I've stopped here for now. Annette reached the peak—I don't think I'm anywhere near it.
She stops talking and cocks her head to the right. In the background, a faint knocking noise has begun.
Williams: I don't think it wants me to.
Doctor Williams turns the camera to face the lookout's trapdoor above her. She shifts her hand, and the knocking sound becomes louder, clearly emanating from the floor above. It is soft and regular: two knocks, pause, one knock, and a longer pause.
She turns the camera back to her face. The light shifts. It is clear now that her pupils are constricted, almost abnormally so; and her lips are now shrunken and black. Her breathing is shallow.
Williams: So — what I'm going to do is — is I'm going to stay here. If you're at base camp, don't come up. [Pause] If you're Annette, I'd stay where you are, too.
She turns the camera to the window. The source of the sky's colour is now clear. From behind the ridges of the lookout's surrounding mountaintops, there is a fierce orange glow. No sun is visible in the sky.
Williams: Pissed, aren't you? Well, I'm not moving. You won't have me—not where you want me, not at your terrible crowned peak.
Williams slumps against the wall of the lookout, leaving the camera on the table. She remains in that position for several hours.
Suddenly, there is a knock on the door.
Williams immediately stops and pulls out a gun. It is an MTF-issue P90-1, its casing blackened with soot. She is breathing heavily, and her hands are shaking.
There is another knock, this time coming from directly behind the camera.
Williams turns around. Something moves, knocking the camera to the ground. It climbs over the table unsteadily, hitting the ground on all fours. It has human arms and human legs of unusually long length. It is extremely emaciated and its skin is dry and cracked. A device is clipped to its left wrist.
Its head is not visible from the camera angle. It raises its torso and makes a breathy, rattling sound.
Williams: ANNETTE!
Williams screams, discharging a burst of fire into the entity's torso and left arm.
The entity stumbles, coughing violently as embers are expelled from its mouth. It collapses to the ground, still moving towards Doctor Williams as more of its skin flakes off, revealing charred flesh and ash underneath. It comes within a few paces of Doctor Williams, who lifts her boot and stamps it into their skull, which collapses with a distinct crack and an expulsion of embers and soot.
Williams: It—it's— [Pause]
Doctor Williams attempts to throw up again. However, she is only able to retch for several seconds.
Williams: …Annette…
From above, the knocking begins again.
Williams leaves the frame, retreating to the other end of the room. Over the next ten minutes, a few sobs can be heard from her corner, sporadic and dry.

Williams is staring at the camera. She has propped her body up against the side of the lookout's bed. The room is fully lit in a shifting, blazing orange glow. In her left hand, she is clutching the P90-1. Empty shells and singed orange fur litter the ground around her.
Her lips move, producing no sound for several seconds. When she speaks, her voice is soft and rasping. She is no longer enunciating clearly. No other sounds can be heard in the background.
Williams: Nnnnyo sunset. It's been like this for — for three days. No midnight. [Pause] It's grown silent. Waiting me out.
Williams jumps. Something jostles the camera, though no sound is heard. She pushes herself further into the corner. Though she attempts to raise the weapon at one point, it seems she is too weak to handle it properly. Her eyes and mouth open wide in terror.
Her next words do not align with her facial movements in the slightest.
Williams: There is a fetish among humans at the deepest level about enlightenment and height, about ignorance and depth.
Shards of glass burst into view, as if thrown from behind the camera. A gust of wind begins blowing, sending some chairs in the room flying. Williams herself is pressed against the wall, unable to resist.
Williams: [Softly and quickly] Here we are, on a castle in the sky, on a mountain in the air, the God Pillar, a recursive stack…
Her voice drops to a whisper. The rest of her words are inaudible.
The orange glow becomes more intense. Burning cinders float into view, blown up by the wind. Smoke fills the room; the wooden floor of the lookout is catching fire. Williams' skin begins to blister and crack. As she struggles, it seems as if her boots are stuck to the ground. The rubber of their soles has begun to melt.
Williams: [Slightly louder] Foxes are known to eat tongues. Did you know that?
She raises her head upwards. Something is moving behind her, though the smoke and the orange glare behind the windows makes it shape hard to see. Williams opens her mouth in a silent scream.
Williams: Tongues are full of blood and muscle. Tongues are very wet and alive. Tongues help you speak.
The shape lumbers into view in the window behind Williams, climbing up the side of the elevated lookout. It has four spindly legs and an elongated, almost serpentine, body, all covered in orange fur. As it approaches, the window shatters as if under immense heat, though no sound is heard. Sparks and smoke blow into the room.
Williams: That's why it loves us. That's why it needs us.
The creature stoops, bending its long legs and passing its head and neck through the shattered window. Its head is a canid skull, blackened and glowing in a wreath of fire. Two burning coals serve as its eyes. It opens its mouth wide. There is a tremor, and the camera's lens cracks.
The creature then winds around to face Williams, now motionless and engulfed in flames.
Williams: [Speaking more slowly] Annette was allowed to reach its peak; I wasn't. [Pauses] Loo. Lee. Lawlawlawlawlaw.
The creature gnashes its teeth, exhaling little plumes of flames. It gapes its jaws wide and bites down on Williams' head. Slowly, it picks Williams up, whose body dangles loosely from its grip. It is unclear if Williams is alive at this point.
Williams: It still feels a little unfair. But there's nothing in here. Nothing for us, nothing for me.
The creature bites down, separating Williams' head from her body. It remains in the frame for several more seconds, turning Williams' head around in its jaws. Then it draws its head back, out of the window, and descends the lookout's tower. Shortly after this, the video feed cuts out.
Nothing is heard in the following one minute and twenty-five seconds.
Williams: There's nothing. It's just fucking silence and smoke.
Williams clears her throat.
Williams: I—I think I'm going to come down now. Wish me luck, Annette.

This guide is geared towards giving you some strategies for getting the most out of the venues available to you when you're getting writing help. It's also geared mostly towards getting reviews on full drafts, since getting feedback on ideas is a different beast altogether.

You won't always be able to implement these right away, either because they take a lot of time to set up or because you're still developing the requisite skills. That's okay — any attempt is better than no attempt.

Prep work/準備作業
The easier it is to review your draft, the more likely people are to do it, and drafts that have fewer problems are easier to review. Before you post something and ask for feedback, check for errors (spelling, grammar, tone, dialogue, etc.), do the requisite background research,1 and generally try to make it the best it can be — essentially, be your own first critic. This generally requires some skill at writing and critiquing, but those are useful skills anyways.

Of course, you won't be able to fix every problem yourself, but you should at least try to identify as many concerns as possible. Then, when you share the draft, make a point of mentioning what you need help with — if a reviewer can limit their scope to a few issues, that also makes it easier for them. The more detailed, the better — "I need help with the dialogue" is less useful to a reviewer than "I'm not sure that the dialogue sounds natural".

Identifying and fixing problems in your draft, in addition to narrowing the scope for the reviewer, signals two things that reviewers like to know:
- You're competent enough at writing that, if you're given advice, there's a good chance that you can implement it.
- You care about making your draft the best it can be, and view the process of getting feedback as more than a formality.

Most people who visit the site prefer to spend their limited time reading articles they have reason to believe are good, and asking for review on an article is a tacit admission that it's not quite good enough yet. Some people will read it anyways just because they're nice, but it always helps if you can convince people it will be worth their time.
Making your draft interesting to read will not be covered in this guide, but what's actually important is making it SOUND interesting to read.
The best way to do this is to write one true sentence about your draft that encapsulates the gist of the article and evokes the emotion you're looking for. For example, when trying to get people to read SCP-3022, I described it as a "bathroom-centric Thaumiel", firstly because that's what it is, and second because it's a weird sentence that makes people say "Huh?" — also something I was going for with the article. For something like SCP-2420, one might call it "a story about a man, his dog, and coping with loss". Because that's what it is, and because you can tell right away what sort of article it's gonna be.
If you can't sum up your draft's gist in a sentence, or you're not sure what emotional response you're trying to evoke, you probably need to flesh out the concept more before writing the draft.
When advertising your draft, it's important to distinguish yourself from everyone else who wants help with their draft so you can catch a reviewer's attention. This means leaving out redundant information and empty sentences that don't say anything about the draft in question, save perhaps a message of thanks to cap off your post.

The chief problem here is that there's no attempt to describe the draft in question. No title, no description. "SCP-XXXX" literally does not carry any information, never put that in the title. "for review prior to posting" is self-evident from the fact that it's a sandbox linked in the Drafts and Critiques forum. For the thread summary, "Draft of my rewritten SCP" might work if there was any mention of what it's a rewrite of — anyone who had read the original would immediately know what they're getting into.
This feedback request is better. Please respect this user's privacy! Do not attempt to find the original post.
The title immediately describes the premise of the article, and has a chance to bring in viewers. The summary doesn't help it out — the first part isn't really relevant to the draft at hand (glad to have you around though!), and in general, people do not change the tenor of their feedback based on how vicious you support them being. The description in the post is very good — a potential reviewer knows that, if nothing else, they can help out just by saying how they felt it handled the backstory reveal.
Here's another good review request. Please respect this user's privacy! Do not attempt to find the original post.
The thread title could stand to be a bit more specific, but it does convey that this is anomaly documentation as a hospital might do it. The thread summary shores it up by highlighting the piece's experimental nature, the basic idea's good reception, and soliciting a specific type of feedback. The description, by going into details about the inspiration behind the article, gives reviewers something to work with if they recommend that the author take a different approach.
Being picky
The ability to evaluate feedback and decide how to implement it is a skill that develops alongside your overall writing skill, but this guide can still give you some tips. Generally, it's helpful to be familiar with various site members and their bodies of work, but in a pinch you can look at their author page to see their works, or their Wikidot profile to see their posts.
Here are some good reasons to take a piece of criticism with a grain of salt:
- It violates the Criticism Policy, or seriously goes against its guidelines. You should actually consider reporting this to a staff member if it happens.
- It amounts to "You did something unusual, and you should do it the normal way instead" when you did, in fact, have a good reason for doing it the unusual way.
- It displays a basic misunderstanding of the article or its subject matter.
- It's telling you how the article should be written, but the critic has no positively rated articles to their name.
- The critic is attempting to address an issue that you don't think their own writing reflects a strong grasp of.
- The critic is giving a subjective opinion about your article's quality, but you often disagree with the critic about which articles are good.
- It isn't accompanied by any sort of explanation of why you should do what's being suggested.
- Multiple other users disagree with the criticism.
Here are some good reasons to take a piece of criticism seriously:
- Anyone, even a total newbie, is telling you their subjective emotional response(s) to your article.
- It points out objective errors, such as typos and formatting issues.
- It is very insistent that you should not write about this subject matter, or that you are handling the subject matter poorly.
- You think highly of the critic's grasp on the topic(s) they're advising you on, especially if it's about a real field of study in which they are an expert.
- The critic is giving a subjective opinion about your article's quality, and you often agree with the critic about which articles are good.
- Solid justification, either in- or out-of-universe, is provided for the suggestion, especially if good examples are cited.
- If they dislike the direction you've taken the draft, they've offered one or more (good) alternative directions to take it.
- Multiple other users agree with the criticism.
Ultimately, there's no objective way of telling how good a piece of criticism is — some comments, or even some specific pieces of advice, will have traits from both of those lists at once. You'll have to decide for yourself whether addressing it will make your article better.
If you find you're getting a lot of criticism that seems less-than-useful because the people doing so don't get your article or seem to disagree with its premise, that can be a sign that your article isn't getting your point across. If this happens, you should explicitly state what you're trying to convey with the piece — at the very least, once it's explicit, they can either advise you on making it clearer, dissuade you from that course of action altogether, or agree to disagree.
Sometimes you will get a piece of criticism that seems worth addressing, but doesn't give you an idea of how to change your article to do so. In this case, you can either ask the critic for more advice, or wait for feedback from others to contextualize it for you.
Social engineering
People who remember you and have a positive opinion of you are somewhat more likely to look over your draft, even if you're not formally acquainted. You can increase the odds here by staying engaged with the community — posting in the forums regularly, posting in the chat, being generally pleasant to have around, and offering good feedback. You should also get a custom Wikidot avatar, if you haven't already — those of us who are visual learners will remember an icon better than a username.
The other part of social engineering is to get exposure for your draft without being obnoxious about it. Methods vary by venue.
In the forums, people will find your draft either through the drafts subforum or through Recent Forum Posts. Maximize visibility while following the rules and being non-obnoxious by responding to every post someone else makes in your thread (except for staff posts).
Whatever the particular content, you should always strive to stay respectful and engage in good faith with the post (so long the reviewer isn't being disingenuous, of course). If there's any information at all that you want from the reviewer, make sure to ask them! It gets you better feedback and gives you an excuse to bump the thread.
If at all possible, you should make whichever changes the feedback suggests you should, and then announce that you've done so — this lets anyone seeing the thread know that you're committed to incorporating feedback into your work. Also, if you make major changes based on someone's post, it's fine to ask them to look over those changes.
If there's a response to your draft thread on the front page of Recent Forum Posts, don't bother responding to your draft thread. Staggering out replies means more people will see your thread, which is more valuable than fewer people seeing it more often.
Generally, the only time it's okay to respond to your own thread as a whole (i.e. NOT to a specific commenter) is when you're announcing major changes that might make it worthwhile for people to take another look. Naturally, you should take advantage of this opportunity whenever it comes up.
In the chat, a link to your draft could either stay on everyone's screens for an hour or disappear within minutes, and it's a crapshoot as to whether someone will see your draft on the backscroll. It's still valuable, though, because it makes a two-way conversation about your draft a lot easier for everyone involved. A good time to link your draft is when the chat is active, but not going incredibly fast; that said, there's not really a downside to linking it at any other time either.
A few exceptions apply — don't post your draft more than once every twenty minutes (when I asked chat ops to give me an acceptable interval, that's what they gave me). Probably wait at least a half hour between postings, just to stay on the safe side. Don't interrupt Serious Business discussions, and don't post your draft while someone else has yet to receive feedback on their own. Follow all other rules outlined in the chat guide, naturally.
If you and someone else are both looking for draft feedback at the same time, it's a good idea to suggest a draft trade, wherein you agree to provide each other feedback. It's pretty rare for people to turn down these offers, so they're reliable, but you naturally have to be prepared to give them feedback in return.
Try to avoid just copy-pasting the same draft pitch every time you link your draft — people will become accustomed to it and ignore it. Mix things up a little bit.
On Reddit, don't post your draft. They suck at giving feedback and have no (relevant) standards. It's really not worth your time or theirs. I can't believe I have to tell people not to get SCP crit on Reddit, but apparently I do!
Posting to the site
At any point after you have a draft that contains all of the material you meant for it in some form, you can post your article, even if you intend to make changes. This is permitted by the rules — you can continue to edit articles after they are posted, but staff can delete unfinished works immediately.
Any decent work that hits the site will get several responses within a day, though as the mainsite is not an officially sanctioned venue for soliciting feedback, these comments are not always held to the same standards as posts in the help forums. Many will simply consist of summary judgments of the article as it is.
Unless you believe that your draft is as good as it can be, you should only post your work to the site if you feel that you are no longer getting helpful feedback from other venues. Naturally, some people post for other reasons, but this is the only one I can endorse. At this point the site itself is your best option for improving the draft, and that's where you should go.
There are a few pieces of advice that I can provide for this — firstly, people usually only read an article once, so if you decide to make major changes, you should consider deleting the article, implementing the changes, and then reposting it. Secondly, site members dislike authors explicitly soliciting feedback in the discussion thread for their article, so you should avoid doing that. Third, in the discussion thread, you should try to thank as many people who helped you with the draft as you can remember — it strokes their egos and lets potential future reviewers know that their efforts will be remembered.
Closing notes
Nothing in this essay will guarantee that you get feedback. This essay does not give you a surefire way to sort out the good critique from the bad critique.
